Mill Library

Dear Future Daanish,

Someone spray painted a giant penis type thing (composed of electrical circuits) in fluorescent orange right in front of Mills Library today. It was hilarious.

Sincerely yours,

Memories

Dear Future Daanish,

It has occurred to me that this blog is kind of useless because while it may allow you to remember all the things you used to do, it will only do so at the moment you're reading it. You won't remember them on a day-to-day basis, and thus you won't really act on those memories in any significant way. I'm not saying that as a judgement on you, life is simply too busy and the brain is simply too simple to function that way. However, if one were to act based on their memories, even the little insignificant ones, I'm sure one would interact differently with friends and family. For instance, if you always remembered the good times you had with someone, the nice things they've done for you, how much they mean to you, et cetera, then you would likely appreciate them much more and treat them differently.

You might be wondering what prompted this thought process; today, I was thinking about what it would be like if I were to lose certain friends or certain friends were to lose me. I realized that I probably wouldn't care too much and neither would the friends. I mean sure, we'd probably be upset at first but in the end we wouldn't end up caring - at least not in any significant way. Strange, huh? Life just moves on.

Anyways, today, you only went to school for one class, and you ran into Sarah Resendes on the way there and the way back. You had nice conversation. It was fun. Other than that, you've been watching The West Wing with Leslie for most of the day; great ending to the first season.

That's all for today.

Sincerely yours,
Past Daanish

Nothing Matters

Dear Future Daanish,

This is your first blog post on your new blog. If you can't remember why you named the blog the way you did, here's a refresher: you love House. In season 4, episode 14 of House (Living the Dream), House talks to a patient about the meaning of life and says, "Nothing matters; we're all just cockroaches, wildebeests dying on the riverbank." Due to the large amount of cynicism that consumes your life, you found it appropriate. Also, your friend Katie approved of it saying it was "cute." You like her, she's nice. Who knows, maybe you're still friends. If not, you should give her a call and catch up.

Anyways, I'm not really sure how this blog is going to work - it may just be a recount of your day or something so when you look back at this years from now, you'll know what you were like and what you did.

I hope life worked out for you, Future Daanish.

Sincerely yours,
Past Daanish
